Patient Care Technician

The Patient Care Technician (PCT) program is designed to prepare students for entry-level work in a variety of healthcare environments, such as clinics, hospitals, nursing homes, long term care facilities, fire departments, ambulance companies or emergency room facilities. Patient Care Technicians care for patients under the supervision of a doctor or nurse.

Front Range Community College offers a Patient Care Technician certificate in two pathways: EMS or CNA/Phlebotomy. The program also offers students stackable certificates in Electrocardiogram and Healthcare Customer Services Basics.  These certificates can be completed while students work toward completion of their selected PCT certificate pathway.

The Patient Care Technician program is comprised of didactic and experiential teaching, as well as clinical placements in the health care and emergency services fields. Once students complete the requirements of the Patient Care Technician program, they are eligible to take the National Certified Patient Care Technician (NCPCT) exam through the National Center for Competency Testing.
