Program Description

Studio Art is the study of the creation of visual art in multiple disciplines such as design, drawing, painting, sculpture, photography, and ceramics. The program focuses on the techniques and theories of the historical, modern, and contemporary approaches to creating visual art as well as best studio practices.
The DWD reflects this with foundational courses in art history and studio arts along with other required general education course and recommended electives. Employment in the field itself typically requires graduate study. A bachelor’s degree is typically required for success in the art world while a masters degree is typically required for employment in higher education.

Please Note: The degree track in Studio Art with Secondary Teaching Licensure has different requirements and is not included in this agreement. Please refer to this agreement’s cover page for the name of the Bachelor’s degree at the four-year institution to which this agreement applies.
