ASL 1122 American Sign Language II
Develops a basic syntactic knowledge of American Sign Language (ASL), basic vocabulary and basic conversational skills. Incorporates vital aspects of deaf culture and community. The direct experience method is used to enhance the learning process. Students must complete this course with a `B` or higher or pass the ASL 1121 proficiency test at 80% or better prior to acceptance into the Interpreting and Transliterating Preparation program.
Notes
The Westminster Campus offers a proficiency exam for both ASL 1121 and ASL 1122. A student must pass a proficiency exam with an 80% score or better to satisfy the applicable prerequisite requirement. Students who plan to articulate with the UNC ASLIS BA program will be required to attain a grade of 'B' or better, or pass the ASL 1121 and ASL 1122 proficiency test with a score of at least 80% or better prior to registering for ASL 1123.
