Pharmacy Technician - Certificate

Assessment testing is required for all students. Students who place into CCR 092 or above and MAT 050 or above may begin this program of study. Students scoring below this level should consult with a Faculty Member before registering for courses in this program of study.

This certificate prepares students to assist pharmacists with the technical tasks in community and hospital pharmacy settings, as well as several additional settings.

The curriculum is in a modular format consisting of three five-week instructional modules. Two modules of experiential practice follow the three modules in the following semester. Students may enter the program either in the fall or spring semester. This program is accredited by the American Society of Health System Pharmacists (ASHP).

Additional expenses incurred during the PHT program may include identification badges, books, lecture notes, scrubs, criminal background check, 10-panel drug screen, BLS certification from an AHA provider, and immunizations prior to clinical rotations.

Program Admission Requirements:

  1. Attend a Pharmacy Technician Information Session prior to enrollment or meet with the Program Director.
  2. Completion of program entrance requirements.
  3. Completion of the PHT program application for admission.
  4. Attending high school, or possess a GED or high school diploma.
  5. Demonstrate keyboarding skills of 25 WPM or higher.
  6. Submission of a résumé.
  7. Pass a criminal background check at student's expense.
  8. Pass a 10-panel drug screen at student's expense.
  9. Completion of a PHT health summary with documented immunization records prior to clinical rotations.
