Program Description

This certificate program prepares individuals to work in an administrative assistant/office support role in a health care facility. Students learn basic human anatomy, physiology and disease conditions. Skills are developed in computer applications, written communication, medical office procedures, financial management, insurance billing, International Classification of Diseases 10th (ICD-10) Edition, and Physicians Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) coding, and transcribing medical reports.

• Understand the bookkeeping systems, financial reports and coding systems in a medical office.
• Understanding of personal computers, operating systems, word processing, spreadsheets and databases.
• Understanding of medical records, front desk activities and office management.
• Perform basic patient care, vital signs, and safety procedure
• Experience with supervised Administrative Internship in a contracted facility
