Program Description
This program is designed for students wanting to complete a two-year (four semester) Automotive Service: Comprehensive Technician Certificate and enter the workforce. Students explore the operation, maintenance, and service of all modern automotive systems including: electricity and electrical systems, engine operation, overhaul, and replacement as well as cooling and lubrication systems, steering, suspension, alignment, tires, wheels, brakes - including anti-lock brakes and traction control systems, HVAC systems, manual and automatic transmission operation, overhaul, and replacement, and differential and drive axle service. This certificate will give students a solid foundation in automotive fundamentals, basic exposure to and experience with all modern automotive systems, and readiness for entry-level employment in the automotive service industry. Students completing this certificate will have the basic entry-level skills most requested by employers. They will also have some experience with additional systems and procedures that are seen as beyond the entry-level technician.
