Personal Trainer Certificate
Program Description
This program is designed for students wanting to complete a Personal Trainer Certificate and enter the workforce. Students explore nutrition, fitness and wellness, biology, and health communication. This certificate program prepares students to become a certified personal trainer. Professional trainers can be found in health clubs, private practice, or other health-promotion arenas. Students may continue their educational studies by pursuing an Associate of Science Degree in Exercise Science in either Health Promotion or Sports Medicine. These degrees transfer to Colorado State University.

Important Program Notes:
1Students must have a current CPR certification to sit for the Certified Personal Trainer credential.
2Human Performance and Exercise (HPE) Courses are currently not available at FRCC.
This certificate was designed to utilize several of the same course requirements as FRCC’s Exercise Science and Nutrition & Dietetics Associate degrees.
*Students interested in completing the Exercise Science – Health Promotion AS degree should take BIO 1111, and COM 1150, HWE 1050, HWE 1061, HWE 1064.
*Students interested in completing the Exercise Science – Sports Medicine AS degree should take BIO 1111, and COM 1150, HWE 1050 and HWE 1064 or HWE 2060.
*Students interested in completing the Nutrition and Dietetics AS degree should take BIO 1111, and COM 1150, HWE 1050, HWE 1064 or HWE 2060.
