Integrative Health Professions Associate of Applied Science

Program Description

This program is designed for students wanting to complete a two-year AAS Degree in Integrative Health Professions and enter the workforce as an entry-level practitioner, coach, etc. Students explore integrative health and medical professions. The AAS Integrative Health Professions degree prepares the student to practice a career in an area of integrative health such as teaching yoga, massage therapy, reflexology, energy work and health & wellness coaching. Students can create their own practice or work alongside other practitioners in the integrative health and medical fields including wellness facilities, clinics and hospitals. Students study various integrative health modalities, healing methods, and ethical issues.

What You Will Learn

Upon completion of the program you will be able to:

  1.  Model a holistic view of health that integrates mind-body-spirit to promote health and wellness and prevent illness
  2.  Develop professional relationships with clients by demonstrating empathy, maintaining healthy boundaries, and providing a non-judgmental, welcoming space for healing to occur
 3. Cultivate the knowledge and skills necessary to foster an inclusive environment that promotes equity, enables them to positively engage with diverse populations, and practice cultural sensitivity within professional settings
4. Acquire an understanding of what jobs are available and how to market oneself to be a successful employee or entrepreneur in a professional, integrative setting
 5. Identify and describe the fundamental similarities and differences between a variety of medical models and integrative health modalities
 6.Describe the impact of stress on health and wellness by modeling techniques for stress reduction and practicing self-care
7. Engage in effective and professional communication by using appropriate medical terminology, sharing health-related knowledge, and utilizing active listening skills when conveying their learned modality to clients and to the community at-large
 8. Demonstrate critical thinking, specific skills and techniques, safety protocols, and proficiency in practicing at least one specific holistic modality
 9. Display professional, ethical conduct in accordance with each modality’s Scope of Practice and professional accrediting organization(s) as well as demonstrate integrity in communicating their knowledge and applying their skills
10. Engage as Integrative Health Professionals, collaborating and networking with other holistic and mainstream healthcare professionals to create a more comprehensive outlook and universal approach to health, medicine, and wellness
