Program Description

This program is designed for students wanting to complete a two-year AAS Degree in Computer Information Systems and enter the workforce. Students explore computer information systems, networking and computer sciences. Consult with program faculty to create an individualized CIS degree to meet the student's needs. Depending on the student's focus, they could qualify for a career as an entry-level programmer, web developer, or database administrator. Some careers may require a Bachelor's degree.

What You Will Learn

Upon completion of the program, students will be able to:
 1.  Demonstrate foundation skills in computer information systems, programming, database, and scripting
 2.  Interpret problem statements and create requirements to solve system-level problems
 3.  Compile a portfolio of work from technical courses
 4.  Prepare for industry certifications where applicable
 5.  Exhibit basic office application skills
 6.  Demonstrate appropriate work-ethic traits through personal conduct and effective teamwork
 7.  Display business soft skills such as technical writing, documentation, communications, statistics, ethics, and management
 8.  Demonstrate comprehension of enterprise-level architecture and scalability
 9.  Demonstrate basic and advanced skills in virtualized and cloud environments
10. Reflectively locate, organize, analyze, evaluate, and apply information across multiple forms of media to a defined question or problem

Important Program Notes:

*Any Emphasis Course: You must select 12 credits from any of the following areas of study: Accounting (ACC), Business (BUS), Computer Information Systems (CIS), Computer Networking (CNG), Computer Web-Based (CWB), Computer Science (CSC), Economics (ECO), Finance (FIN), Management (MAN), Marketing (MAR), and Multimedia Graphic Design (MGD), or MAT 2410 or higher.

**Any Computer Emphasis Course: You must select 27 credits from any of the following areas of study: Computer Information Systems (CIS), Computer Networking (CNG), Computer Web-Based (CWB), or Computer Science (CSC).

You must complete a minimum of 60 credits to complete this degree. If receiving financial aid, you should only take courses and credits as required for this degree. Check with your advisor to monitor your completion progress.
