Program Description
This program is designed for students wanting to complete a two-year AAS Degree in Automation & Engineering Technology and enter the workforce. Students explore industries requiring automation, robotics, process control, electro-mechanical, and related troubleshooting skills. This AAS degree program focuses on preparing students for entry-level technician careers with hands-on interaction with devices and systems including electric motors and their controls, solenoids and relays, fluid power systems and controls, pumps and valves, PLCs, industrial robots, sensors and actuators, and other components. Career paths include electro-mechanical technician, robotics technician, automation technician, process and instrumentation technician, industrial maintenance technician, or quality assurance technician. Crossover skills may qualify students for avionics or manufacturing production technician positions.

What You Will Learn
Upon completion of this degree you will be able to:
1. Maintain, install, modify, and troubleshoot industrial control circuits and automated systems
2. Program and integrate industrial robots into a manufacturing workflow
3. Install and troubleshoot automated systems that include Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs)
4. Install, calibrate, and troubleshoot sensors, actuators, valves, controllers, and displays in applications controlling process variables such as temperature, level, flow, and pressure
5. Wire industrial motors and associated control circuits, including variable-frequency drives
6. Install, modify, and troubleshoot pneumatic and hydraulic fluid power systems and their controls
7. Maintain, install, and troubleshoot mechanical power transmission systems, including alignment, lubrication, and vibration analysis of gear, belt, and chain-driven components
8. Read and interpret prints used in the manufacturing, process control, and electrical industries, including assembly drawings, P&ID diagrams, and ladder logic schematics
9. Properly and safely use hand tools and electrical test equipment in the troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of electro-mechanical, process control, and robotics systems and related instrumentation
10. Safely participate in the installation and maintenance of industrial refrigeration systems
11. Perform and document routine maintenance of industrial equipment and systems
12. Work safely and professionally in a diverse, cross-functional team environment in an industrial setting
