ASL 1121 American Sign Language I

Exposes the student to American Sign Language. Readiness activities are conducted focusing on visual/receptive skills and basic communication. Utilizes the direct experience method.

Students who plan to articulate with the UNC ASLIS BA program will be required to attain a grade of 'B' or better, or pass the ASL 1121 proficiency test with a score of at least 80% or better prior to registering for ASL 1122.
