Program Description
This program is designed for students wanting to complete a one-year (two semester) Certificate in Medical Office Specialist and enter the workforce. Students explore computer technology, finances, insurance, business, accounts and office procedures in health care settings. This certificate program prepares the student to pursue a career as a medical office specialist in a health-care facility. Skills are developed in computer applications, written communication, medical office procedures, financial management, insurance billing, transcribing medical reports, and coding using the International Classification of Diseases and Physicians Current Procedural Terminology (CPT). In addition, students learn basic human anatomy, physiology and disease conditions.
