Program Description
This program is designed for students wanting to complete a one-year (two semester) Certificate in Pharmacy Technician and enter the workforce. Students explore the skills and techniques required to assist pharmacists in community and hospital settings. This certificate program prepares students to assist in the preparation of prescribed medications, including retrieval, counting, pouring, weighing, measuring, and mixing medications. The student will be qualified for a career as a pharmacy technician in community and institutional pharmacy settings. The program includes three, five-week instruction modules in one semester at the Westminster Campus and then two five-week experiential modules in hospital and community settings in the second semester. FRCC’s Pharmacy Technician Certification is nationally accredited by the American Society of Health System Pharmacists (ASHP). Student must attend a Pharmacy Technician Program Information Session prior to the start of the program.
