Program Description

This program is designed for students wanting to complete a two-year AAS Degree in Hospitality Hotel & Event Management and enter the workforce. Students explore all management facets of the hotel and event industries. The degree is designed to prepare students with the necessary skills and knowledge for entry level careers in the various classifications of hotels, meetings, conventions, expositions, and special events. Students will participate in one industry related internship. During these courses, students receive applied experiences in both service and operational areas of the hotel and event planning industries. Students take a nationally recognized test from the Education Foundation of the National Restaurant Association, if passed with a score of 75% or more students receive the ServSafe® Food Protection Manager Certification. Students must earn a “C” or better in all required courses applied to the degree program.

Semester Note: For HOS 280, you must obtain Program Director approval to register. It is offered every semester at LC as a hybrid and requires 180 hours in an approved internship setting.

Upon completion of HOS 131, HOS 242, HOS 255, CIS 118, HOS 141, HOS 251, CUA 261, and MAN 225, you should apply for the Hotel Management Certificate.

Upon completion of HOS 131, HOS 255, MAN 230 or MAR 111, CIS 118, CUA 120, HOS 141, HOS 210, and MAN 225, you should apply for the Event Planning Certificate.
