Program Description
This program prepares students for transfer into the four-year undergraduate program in Architecture at the University of Colorado Denver through fulfillment of basic General Education, GTE, and foundational architecture courses. This is an articulated agreement between University of Colorado Denver College of Architecture and Planning and Front Range Community College. You will earn an Associate of Arts degree (AA) in Architectural Studies that will prepare you for a rapidly evolving design/build profession.

What You Will Learn
Upon completion of this program, you will be able to:
1. Interpret construction drawings
2. Analyze design and modeling concepts effectively
3. Gather, record, and apply relevant information in architectural coursework
4. Understand the designer’s responsibility as determined by building codes and regulations, professional service contracts, zoning and ordinances
5. Understand the basic principles, appropriate application and performance of construction materials
6. Assess, select, and conceptually integrate structural systems, building envelope systems, environmental systems, life-safety systems, and building service systems into building design
7. Utilize knowledge, techniques and skills to create accurate architectural documents and presentations with appropriate computer software to meet professional standards
8. Use mathematics, architectural/engineering technology theory and critical thinking skills to design and document functional solutions to meet established criteria and standards when given a design problem
9. Analyze an architectural plan drawing for proper compliance with local building and zoning codes
